Laugh Lines Theatre - Summer Comedy in Bancroft, Ontario

Some Healthy Medicine for You
at the Village Playhouse

For our fourth summer at the Bancroft Village Playhouse, Laugh Lines Theatre plans to dole out more of that healthy medicine -- laughter! Scientists agree that laughter can help you live longer, so we want to add good times and good years to your life. This year we’ll serve up two great comedies – now that’s medicine that’s easy to swallow!

Our season opens July 6 with the farce Take a Number, Darling by Jack Sharkey. Concert pianist Duncan Latimer and his wife Ellen, a famous soap opera star, lead impeccable lives, so their PR woman has no worries about arranging an interview with a scandal magazine reporter. But before the reporter shows up there are unexpected arrivals – Duncan’s old Navy buddy (who also has a past with Ellen), and an extra wife Duncan never told anyone about. Crazy confusion ensues as they try to prevent everything blowing up in the scandal sheet.

Rounding out the playbill is Office Hours, another sensational comedy by Norm Foster. On a single Friday afternoon, six scenes play out in different offices across a city. As each one unfolds, the linkages among the scenes are hilariously revealed. The final scene presents comic twists to wrap up the whole afternoon’s bizarre events. Office Hours runs August 3 to 21.

Each play will have 15 evening performances at 8 p.m., plus one Saturday matinee at 2 p.m.

See you at the Village Playhouse!
